Effectiveness of steroid excuse in British court

Although it is not yet manifested scientifically whether “roid rage” is an unwanted response of steroids, these preparations are blamed for some criminal actions quite often.
Michael Barton, a person from Britain, hit a Ford Fiesta, while he was driving his Volkswagen Golf. Paul Gard was a motorist of Ford Fiesta. Barton had overtaken Paul Gard. But then he had to pull back in front of Paul Gard, since another vehicle was driving the other way. Paul Gard flashed him. Thus, he had to brake immediately. Barton got maddened, stopped his car, broke the wing mirror of Paul Gard’s car and hit the man in the face. Then Gard’s wife called police. While she was calling, Barton drove off calmly.
Michael Barton, a 21-year-old man that has a son of two years old, administers steroids for bulking results. Thus, it has been confirmed that these substances affected his behavior. The defense attorney for this young man confirmed that steroids influenced on temperament of his client, since these preparations enhanced his testosterone levels.
Earlier Barton was convicted for several crimes, including domestic violence. Last year this young person pleaded guilty to an assault, criminal damage and driving carelessly due to his anger following assaults.
Patrick Hooton, the judge, claimed that he was not sure that steroids were responsible for the situation. But he added that it was completely mad to get raging and hit a person in the face only because he flashed him. The judge noted that Barton’s behavior was too shameful and he said: “you ought to go to prison”.
Thus, this man was sentenced to 6-month jail sentence suspended for a year; he was also enforced to pay 500 dollars in compensation and ?277 for damage of Paul Gard’s vehicle.

Green and white tea can block excreting testosterone in urine

Sportspersons become more and more sophisticated in administration of steroids. They study new ways to mask their intake of banned products. Several athletes spend time studying researchers’ conclusions that could help them to hide that they dope. Nowadays a way has been found: athletes may mask administration of testosterone by drinking of green tea.
Testosterone is a hormone which occurs in body naturally. So, it can be difficult for anti-doping organizations to determine that a person has administered testosterone. T: E ratio testing is commonly used by anti-doping agencies. Such tests can manifest unusual ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone in urine. But it doesn’t manifest difference between testosterone that has been created in body naturally and that introduced into body with the help of injections, creams, etc.
Declan Naughton and his colleagues at Kingston University ( London) have discovered that green tea has such substances that are called “catechins”. They can inhibit the enzyme UGT2B17. This enzyme promotes attaching glucuronic acid to testosterone. If UGT2B17 is inhibited, less testosterone glucoronide is excreted in urine.
Catechins, the compounds that can mask intake of testosterone, are contained in green and white tea. Black tea lacks such compounds.
Naughton and his colleagues have conducted some experiments. They claim that a cup of strong green tea hides usage of testosterone.
So, those athletes that apply testosterone may lower measures of testosterone excreting in urine by drinking of green or white tea. Green or white tea may block excretion of testosterone, increasing circulating levels of this hormone.
The World Anti-Doping Agency was informed about the findings by the experts. If this process occurs, it means that it is not worthy to apply urine tests. Blood tests should be performed in order to detect testosterone use.
Olivier Rabin, the WADA’s scientist, claims that regular checks of blood steroids will be added. Everything will be done by anti-doping agencies in order to avoid fooling of urine tests.

Just amino acids were found in drugs sent to Wim Vansevenant

The case related to the former Belgian rider Wim Vansevenant changed dramatically. An analysis manifested that the doping medications which were ordered by him didn’t contain the contents enumerated on the labels. The former Belgian rider was cheated by the company where he ordered the drugs.
Last year certain packages sent to the former rider by an Australian company were intercepted by customs officials. According to the labels of  the intercepted  bottles,  they contained the doping preparation TB-500. It represents a peptide hormone that is able to increase endurance and promote healing. The Belgian authorities started an investigation. It was thought that Wim Vansevenant supplied the Omega Pharma-Lotto team with doping substances. This person rode professionally 10 years, from 1998 to 2008. Last 6 years of the career he was working with this team.
An analysis of the bottles seized by customs showed that just amino acids were presented. Wim Vansevenant’s lawyer noted that the charges had to be dropped. He pointed out that since the medication was not related to doping, the former athlete didn’t deserve to be punished.
Johan Lescrauwaet, the prosecutor’s spokesperson affirmed that the contents didn’t correspond to the name of the medicine which was indicated on the label and to the affirmations of the former sportsman.
Only amino acids were found in the bottles. No any doping preparation. So, there is no any evidence that Wim Vansevenant provided doping drugs to other individuals.
The hearing of former professional athlete was scheduled to be later.

Bruce Goldberger’s testimonies in case against Roger Clemens

Testimonies of the celebrated toxicologist Bruce Goldberger will probably influence greatly on decision of the court in the case linked with Roger Clemens. Bruce Goldberger is the Professor of Pathology and Director of Toxicology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. This expert didn’t testify on behalf of the government. However he was called in order to replace Don Catlin, the director of the WADA UCLA Medicine, Goldberger’s testimonies didn’t correspond to those that are ordinarily provided by anti-doping organizations. This toxicologist testified on behalf of the accused sportsperson.
Bruce Goldberger has gotten his celebrity due to his appearing on different news programs. Even during such programs he doesn’t abstain from criticism. He criticized some anti-doping agencies, including the WADA.
Bruce Goldberger expressed critical words for federal prosecutors in the case connected with Roger Clemens. They based on “beer can evidence” presented by Brian McNamee to prove that his client applied steroids and HGH. Brian McNamee, the former personal trainer of this sportsman, provided a beer can with used needles and syringes that had traces of such steroids, as Sustanon, Primobolan Depot and Deca Durabolin and were mixed allegedly with Roger Clemens’ blood. The beer can was maintained by McNamee more than 6 years. The toxicologist argued that such basis wasn’t reasonable.
Bruce Goldberger confirmed that it was impossible to base on “beer can evidence”. He noted that no one could prove that Roger Clemens used steroids and HGH, basing on the beer can, because the theory of contamination could present.
So, Goldberger didn’t support the affirmations of the federal prosecutors. Earlier he also expressed criticism connected with evidence applied by certain anti-doping agencies.
Some years ago the toxicologist Bruce Goldberger testified on behalf of Floyd Landis, an American celebrated cyclist, when this sportsman appealed positives for steroids. A WADA-accredited lab located in France discovered traces of exogenous testosterone; T: E ratio and carbon isotope ratio tests were utilized by the lab. Goldberger expressed similar words and criticism during the appeal connected with Floyd Landis.
Goldberger noted during an interview that the WADA used unsuitable methods and violated rights of sportspeople in order to reach the success in anti-doping programs.
As for Floyd Landis, he didn’t have success in his appeal and acknowledged that he had applied steroids, EPO and several other related medications.
Nobody can be sure which results will be reached by Roger Clemens. Will the federal prosecutors prove that he has lied before the Congress? Will he admit to using forbidden preparations? Or will be the results contrary?

No any sign in physical appearance of Roger Clemens can prove that he has taken steroids

Every baseball fan knows that Roger Clemens is charged with obstruction of justice. It is affirmed that he has lied before Congress about administration of steroids and HGH.
Rusty Hardin, the defense attorney for Roger Clemens, pointed out that Roger Clemens’ physical appearance didn’t change greatly before, during and after his working with the trainer Brian McNamee. The attorney claimed that this factor proved that Roger Clemens hadn’t administered steroids and other related medications.
Enhancement of muscle mass is normally utilized by prosecutors as proof that a sportsperson uses steroids or/and other related preparations. But this tendency was not utilized during the governmental case against Roger Clemens. No one could confirm that muscles of Roger Clemens manifested that he had administered steroids and HGH. It is one of differences between the cases against Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds.
As for the governmental case against Barry Bonds, federal prosecutors called many persons in the trial that could testify that anabolic steroids led to essential changes in physical appearance of this person. They confirmed that intake of steroids led to increase of muscle mass, increased size of the head and shrinkage of testicles in Barry Bonds.
Thus, Rusty Hardin showed 4 pictures of Roger Clemens. The pictures manifested physical appearance of Roger Clemens, including the time when Clemens was working with Brian McNamee. Hardin noted that the photos manifested that there was no difference in physical changes that could manifest that he utilized steroids and HGH.
The attorney Rusty Hardin confirmed that the pictures displayed just the process of ageing. The masseur Cheryl Redfern also confirmed that she didn’t observe any changes in physique of Roger Clemens. Roger Clemens experienced neither back acne, nor abnormal development of breast tissue, nor essentially increased muscle mass.
Phil Garner, a former baseball player, also confirmed that there were not any essential changes in physical appearance and performance of Roger Clemens during working with Brian McNamee.
The Assistant US Attorney Steve Durham tried to discredit the argument about lack of physical changes in Roger Clemens during the cross-examination of Garner. He confirmed that while certain steroids increased muscle mass, others didn’t induce gaining muscles. So, he affirmed that the photos could display nothing about steroid use.
Federal prosecutors desire to take advantages in both cases: in the case against Roger Clemens and in that against Barry Bonds. While they confirm that changes in physical appearance of Barry Bonds display that he has administered steroids, lack of changes in physical appearance of Roger Clemens doesn’t prove that he hasn’t applied steroids.

Anders Breivik even studied effects of steroids and took them in order to commit massacre

Anders Behring Breivik is a killer of more than 70 persons. He bombed buildings of government in Oslo (Norway). Some teenagers of the Workers’ Youth League camp were also killed by him on Utoya island in July 2011.
The killer trained for the murders significantly. He noted that he had used steroid cycles.  Since he applied steroids, these preparations were blamed for the murderes by many journalists.
But what did experts say? Joerge Moerland, a professor of forensic toxicology at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, contested statements of these reporters. The physician Moerland confirmed that anabolic steroids should not be demonized for the crimes. But the toxicologist acknowledged that he couldn’t exclude that these drugs could cause aggressiveness in Breivik.
An “ECA stack”, a combination of caffeine, aspirin and ephedrine, was also taken by the killer. In fact, this combination is usually taken by bodybuilders in order to burn fat and stimulate themselves for trainings. It was determined that the killer has applied great amount of the stack. The amount administered by him was by 50 % more enhanced than it is allowed under European Union’s rules.
The forensic toxicologist Moerland affirmed that the murderer’s behavior was more essentially influenced by the ECA than steroids. He explained that ephedrine might lead to desire to be involved in risky activities. Joerge Moerland affirmed that the killer’s central nervous system had been affected by ephedrine.
Nevertheless, the specialist Moerland noted about limitation of the ECA’ impact. The quantity of caffeine consumed by the killer was equal to approximately 5 cups of coffee. So, the quantity was not enough increased in order to be demonized for the crimes.
Breivik described his application of steroids and dietary supplements in details. He also recommended other persons purchasing steroids at Alinshop.
The killer expressed his dislike of Dianabol because it was able to lead to water retention. He explained that Dianabol could add more body weight than consumers could carry. According to his affirmations, approximately 50 % of the mass obtained due to this preparation is water retention. Anders Breivik decided to take certain combinations that were proper for his purposes.
Anders Breivik studied effects of various steroids in order to choose those who were suitable for his needs. He claimed that Testosterone Propionate had certain superiorities over Dianabol. He also suggested that stacks of Dianabol with Aromasin or administration of Dianabol followed by administration of Winstrol could benefit obviously.
So, the murderer prepared for the massacre scrupulously. He spent time in order to study effects of steroids and plan steroid cycles and usage of dietary supplements. He also pondered about each aspect linked with attacks and murders.
However several individuals claimed that Anders Breivik was legally insane, it’s wrong. It is evident that the crimes have been committed consciously.

Role of outlaw motorcycle gangs in illegal distribution of steroids

According to the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald”, illegal application of steroids has become widespread in Australia due to outlaw motorcycle gangs. The gangs get high profit and low risks.
The detective Nick Bingham has affirmed that New South Wales Police doesn’t focus on investigation connected with application of steroids but anabolic steroids become targets of investigations, when police officers arrest motorcycle gangs for violation of other laws.
According to Nick Bingham, however New South Wales police officers don’t raid houses of gangs for steroids, they find them, when they conduct searches for weapons and psychostimulant drugs.
Bingham has confirmed that they usually seize such quantities of steroids from motorcycle gangs that are only for self-administration. Quantities of other medicines which are commonly found in possession of gangs are much greater than those of steroids.
Nick Bingham has claimed that criminals like administering anabolic steroids in order to create threatening muscular physiques. They desire to look big and strong.
However Nick Bingham assures that gangs have steroids only for personal use, the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald” doesn’t agree with this statement. It reports that motorcycle gangs are involved in smuggling of steroids.
However gyms are claimed to be the main sources of steroids for bodybuilders, it is confirmed by “The Sydney Morning Herald” that certain gyms have direct connections with motorcycle gangs. The Herald claims that many seizures made by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service are related closely to distribution of steroids by motorcycle gangs.
According to reports of Australian Customs, mail seizures of steroids have been increased greatly in comparison with past years.
Over 2, 000 seizures were made in 2009-2010 and over 5, 000 seizures of steroids were recorded in 2010-2011.
Lots of seizures were related to self-application of steroids smuggled by bodybuilders.

David Segui will probably testify in trial related to Roger Clemens

Federal prosecutors asked the judge Reggie Walton to permit the former first baseman of the Major League Baseball David Segui to present testimony in the trial related to the case of Roger Clemens. This person had a conversation with Brian McNamee, the former trainer of Roger Clemens. It is claimed that they have discussed about intake of steroids by the former famous baseball player.
The former personal trainer of Roger Clemens was called to testify against his client because he turned out to be the only person who had direct knowledge about application of steroids and other related medicines by Roger Clemens. Moreover, he saved a beer can with vials, syringes and needles which were allegedly mixed with the blood of Roger Clemens. DNA analysis was conducted in order to determine whether the blood belonged really to Clemens.
Rusty Hardin, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, confirmed that the steroid evidence was thought up by Brian McNamee after the interrogation by federal prosecutors.
But prosecutors noted that David Segui told them that Brian McNamee said that he kept several things as evidence of steroid use by certain players in 2001. It was several years before Roger Clemens’ former trainer became the target of the investigation.
Information provided by David Segui to federal prosecutors differed essentially from that provided to the sportswriter Jim Baumbach. His words presented to Jim Baumbach were published in an article in 2008. According to that article, David Segui claimed that he had never spoken about steroids with his friend Brian McNamee.
Segui found out about implication of Brian McNamee into the case of Roger Clemens only in 2006, when he read an article in the Los Angeles Times.
Segui discussed openly about personal usage of steroids and other related medications. He said that Major League Baseball players asked him numerous times whether he had applied steroids. The former Major League Baseball first baseman admitted that he had used them. But David Segui confirmed that he had never spoken about administration of steroids with Brian McNamee.
David Segui supported the decision of McNamee to save evidence about usage of banned drugs by his clients. According to Segui, it is a proper decision because sometimes innocent guys are blamed but guilty individuals are covered. Thus, he could help to disclose the truth.
Although federal prosecutors asked the judge Walton to permit Segui to testify in the trial connected with Roger Clemens, the decision of the judge is not announced yet.
